Leicester City had a bid for Lewis Neilson accepted during the January transfer window, but the Dundee United man rejected the chance to move, according to a report from The Sun on Sunday (7/2; page 60).

The 17-year-old is attracting attention after a fine start to life in the first-team at Tannadice. He has made nine appearances in the Scottish Premiership this season, including seven starts.

His form has not gone unnoticed. And it appears that Brendan Rodgers was keen to bring him to the King Power Stadium.

The Sun on Sunday (7/2; page 60) reports that the Foxes had a £500,000 bid accepted in last month’s window. However, Neilson turned down the chance to leave.

The report claims that Neilson is currently happy in Scotland. He is apparently keen to keep playing regular football.

Of course, it is unlikely that he would be playing immediately had he joined Leicester. But Rodgers has put plenty of faith in younger players this season.

The likes of James Justin, Youri Tielemans and Harvey Barnes have been regular fixtures this season. And they are all 23 or younger.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Wesley Fofana has been given the platform to establish himself as one of the brightest prospects playing anywhere in the Premier League.

That may not have been enough to convince Neilson to move this time around. But it should certainly encourage him should Leicester come calling once again in the summer.
