Report: Leicester to move for Jonathan Tah if St Etienne refuse to sell Wesley Fofana

Leicester City will make a move for German international Jonathan Tah if they fail in their bid to land St Etienne star, Wesley Fofana.

The Foxes have been linked with a move for Fofana and the player is apparently keen on signing, with the Leicester Mercury reporting that Fofana is desperate for a move to Brendan Rodgers’ men.

However, Leicester are eyeing a move for Bayer Leverkusen star, Tah, if the move for Fofana fails, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claiming the Foxes will move for the German if the Fofana deal collapses.

Tah has been outstanding for Leverkusen since signing from Hamburg back in 2015. That form has given him recognition at international level, too, with Ta winning nine caps for the Germans.

Brendan Rodgers is seemingly desperate to land a new central defender.

A bid in the region of £26m has reportedly been submitted for Fofana but St Etienne manager and former Leicester boss, Claude Puel, is determined to keep his man. Tah, then, could well be the man Rodgers targets in the coming days.

Leicester do need someone in the back four in a central position who can take the lead for a number of years and both Fofana and Tah look like being excellent players.

In terms of Tah, he looks to have all the attributes to succeed. Strong, quick across the ground and still only 24, he fits the mould of the type of player Brendan Rodgers has brought along so well at Leicester.

Full German internationals are usually a pretty much guarantee of a success. Tah, then, should prove to be that if he does sign.
