Leicester City are planning a swoop for Arsenal defender, Kieran Tierney, as they eye up replacements for Ben Chilwell.
Left-back Chilwell is widely expected to move on this summer. A number of clubs are keen on the England man, with the likes of Chelsea credited with interest already.
And according to a report from 90mins.com, the Foxes are already eyeing up his replacement in Tierney.
The former Celtic man only moved to the Gunners in the summer. However, he’s struggled to get going and has seen a number of injuries disrupt his start to life at the Emirates.
Brendan Rodgers will know Tierney well from their time together at Celtic. He made well in excess of 100 appearances for the Bhoys before sealing his Premier League move.
The Foxes are on course to qualify for the Champions League as things stand. That could well be a lure for Tierney, who has seen Arsenal struggle to get anywhere a European place.
Tierney was a star in Scotland. He won the young player of the year awards during his time with the club. Coincidentally, those awards came under the guidance of Rodgers in the main.
An ideal replacement if fit – TBR View]
For some reason, you get the impression Tierney’s move to Arsenal is not going to work out.
Despite the injuries, he doesn’t look like being the first choice any time soon. Mikel Arteta, too, is keen on building his own squad given he has only just joined the ranks.
That begs the question of Tierney being part of those plans, given he was signed in the summer by Unai Emery.
For Leicester, he’d be the ideal signing if they do indeed lose Chilwell. The left-back has been in superb form but that form has led to the inevitable talk of a move.
Brendan Rodgers would be getting a player he knows well. On the surface, it would appear to be the ideal scenario for both player and club.
