Leicester City man Rachid Ghezzal will reportedly travel to Turkey with a view to finalising his move to Besiktas.

What’s the story?

According to Foot Mercato, the attacking midfielder is currently in Lyon. But he will travel to Istanbul to complete his transfer.

A deal has been agreed between the Foxes and the Black Eagles for the Algeria international worth €4m (£3.4m). The fee is thought to be €3m (£2.5m) up front with a further €1m (£846k) in bonuses.

It has also emerged the ace rejected a host of clubs for the Super Lig outfit. Bestiktas’s rivals Galatasaray were allegedly among the sides to make an offer for Ghezzal.

Leicester finally clearing the decks

Leicester are finally clearing the decks of unwanted players as Ghezzal closes in on a move to Besiktas.

The signing of Patson Daka has created a bit of saturation in Brendan Rodgers’ attack. Daka will be competing alongside five different players next season. We saw from the Foxes’ bench last Saturday that Rodgers has plenty of options in the final third.

Had Ghezzal remained, it would only have heightened the Northern Irishman’s problems.

Competition is good. However, there is a chance you freeze certain members of the squad out.

Letting Ghezzal leave makes Rodgers’ life easier and ensures the talented North African plays regularly.
