Report: Leicester make enquiry for £15m-rated sensation that Leeds also want

The Daily Mail claims that Leicester City have made an enquiry to sign PSV Eindhoven and England Under-21 sensation Noni Madueke ahead of the summer window – amid previous reports that Leeds United want the attacker.

Madueke, 19, joined PSV in 2020 and has caught the eye during the 2020-21 campaign. Clocking up 29 appearances in all competitions for the second-placed side’s teenage winger, having a hand in 17 goals throughout the season.

His form in The Netherlands has also seen him break into England’s Under-21 side under Aidy Boothroyd, who has since departed from the role as manager. Madueke could be on his way back to England, after leaving Spurs for PSV.

The latest report claims Leicester have made an enquiry and have been told £15million will be enough to sign Madueke – with Milan and Leipzig also keen. The Evening Standard also state that Leeds and Bayern are interested.

TBR’s view – Madueke is a bargain at £15m

But which club suits him? Leicester are renowned for giving young players a chance – James Justin, Ben Chilwell, Luke Thomas, Harvey Barnes and more have come through. He would get a good chance at the King Power.

However, he would firmly be back-up behind Barnes, James Maddison and others. At Leeds, he would be first reserve with a few to starting alongside Jack Harrison and Raphinha – he is certainly better than Helder Costa.

Madueke, though, is playing in Europe, fighting for titles and part of the England Under-21 set-up – all because of his time at PSV. Surely staying put for another season, or joining a side like Leipzig would benefit him more.
