According to a report from the Mirror, Leicester City will renew their interest in Burnley defender, James Tarkowski, as Brendan Rodgers moves once more for the England man.
Tarkowski has once again been in good form for Burnley this season. Seemingly excelling under the guidance of Sean Dyche, the 27-year-old has won international recognition since moving to Turf Moor.
However, it is claimed now that both Leicester and Crystal Palace are keen on the defender. The Foxes hold a particular interest in Tarkowski, having previously being linked back in 2019.
The Burnley man was cited at the time as a potential replacement for Harry Maguire. However, the club was priced out of a move by the Clarets, with Burnley apparently asking for around £50m for their man.
Brendan Rodgers admitted at the time that the fee was too much. However, he may well be keen to move once again, with the market expected to be deflated thanks to the ongoing global downturn.
An important next move for Leicester, Tarkowski could fit well – TBR View
It’s vitally important that Leicester get it right in their next central defensive purchase. Jonny Evans has been brilliant but isn’t getting any younger, while Wes Morgan is now 36.
Obviously, Soyuncu and Benkovic have massive potential but the Foxes need someone else in there too.
Tarkowski has been brilliant at Burnley, too. A few years ago a move from Burnely to Leicester might not have been seen as a massive step up. But with Rodgers leading them to the Champions League this season, Tarkowski may well fancy the chance at European football.
