Leicester City are reportedly very keen to sign AS Roma winger Cengiz Under.
Calciomercato have reported the Foxes are interested in the Turkish international, who is set to leave the Italian club this window.
Apparently Roma value Under at around £21 million, but Leicester are unwilling to go near that figure.
Brendan Rodgers may also face competition from Hertha Berlin for the player according to the report.
Newcastle have also been mentioned elsewhere with regards to potentially loaning the player, but the Magpies recently landed Ryan Fraser and are surely unlikely to act.
But Leicester are ‘strongly pressing’ in the negotiations for Under, who is under contract with Roma until 2023.
The star has made 88 first-team appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals and making 12 assists.
TBR’s View – Under could be quality Leicester business depending on price
Under is undoubtedly a player with big potential, but he is yet to truly hit the ground running in his career.
The 23-year-old is still somewhat raw but under the right guidance could become a top player.
£21 million is fairly steep and it is unsurprising to see Leicester reluctant to pay such an amount.
If the club can negotiate down to around £15 million then it would be something worth pursuing.
