Report: Leicester City target Atalanta star Robin Gosens as potential Chilwell replacement

Leicester City are said to be interested in signing Atalanta star, Robin Gosens, as Brendan Rodgers steps up his pursuit for a Ben Chilwell replacements.

Chilwell signed for Chelsea this week in a mega-money deal and now the Foxes are tasked with finding a suitable replacement for England’s first-choice left-back.

And Sky Sports claims that Rodgers has already got targets in mind, with Atalanta star Gosens one of the names mentioned. Ajax star, Nicolas Tagliafico, being the other in the conversation.

It is claimed that a bid in the region of £40m would be enough to see Atalanta tempted into parting ways with Gosens, who played a vital role for them as they enjoyed a memorable Champions League campaign.

Gosens was previously linked with a move to Chelsea, however, given they’ve now landed Chilwell, that would appear to be off.

Known for his versatility, 26-year-old Gosens plays predominantly down the left side and scored ten times last season, while laying on a further eight assists for his team.

Goals, assists, energy, the right age, versatile, the list goes on in terms of the right boxes Gosens ticks for Leicester.

The only sticking point seems to be the £40m fee. But given the Foxes have just got £50m for Chilwell, they can’t really grumble at the asking price from Atalanta.

Their story was the stuff of dreams in Europe last term and Gosens was as crucial as anyone in their run. He looks, on the surface, to be ready-made to succeed in the Premier League.

In terms of replacements for one of Leicester’s best players in Chilwell, the Foxes will be hard-pressed to find someone more suited.
