Leicester City wants to sign Preston North End defender, Ben Davies, but face a fight on their hands to keep hold of the experienced defender, Jonny Evans.

That is, according to The Daily Mail, who claim the Foxes are in the hunt for Pearson this summer after the 25-year-old enjoyed another stellar campaign down in the Championship.

However, while Brendan Rodgers eyes Davies as someone to strengthen his squad, the report also claims they could lose the experienced Evans, who has entered the final 12 months of his contract.

Evans has been in outstanding form for Leicester since moving to the club. His winning mentality and quality garnered from his time with Manchester United have been plain to see.

But the Foxes could lose the 32-year-old if they don’t act quickly. Evans would no doubt attract plenty of interest should his deal expire, while Brendan Rodgers would be upset to lose such a key player.

Wes Morgan is living proof under the nose of the Leicester City boss that age is but a number sometimes. Morgan can do a job when needed, while Evans can do more than a ‘job’.

The Northern Ireland star played every game last season and was superb in helping Caglar Soyuncu along as well.

Losing him would be a bitter blow. He’s more than capable of putting a few good seasons together despite being 32 and if Leicester do lose him, then he’ll take some replacing.
