According to Tuttomercatoweb, Leicester City are interested in signing Inter Milan attacker Ivan Perisic.
Perisic would represent a very high profile signing for the Foxes. The 30-year-old was one of the star names of the Croatia side that made it all the way to the 2018 World Cup final in Russia, and he was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United while Jose Mourinho was at the helm at Old Trafford, as reported by the Mirror.
The Inter Milan man would certainly bring plenty of experience to the King Power Stadium. Signing him would represent a real statement of intent from Leicester. However, they should not rush into striking a deal for the Croatian.
Brendan Rodgers currently has plenty of exciting young attacking talents at his disposal in the likes of James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and Demarai Gray. Perisic’s arrival would likely see game time taken away from these promising players.
Not only that, but Perisic would also command high wages. As he is 30, he also offers very little in terms of potential resale value. He is not an improving player, and his presence could halt the progress of others at the club.
All in all then, despite Perisic being an attractive proposition in terms of his reputation and stature in the game, Leicester would likely be making a mistake by signing him this summer.
