Leicester City and Newcastle United have joined a growing list of teams reportedly interested in the signing of Amadou Diawara from Roma this summer.
It is being reported by Corriere dello Sport that three Premier League clubs, Leicester, Newcastle, and Tottenham Hotspur, have all made contact with Roma via intermediaries to assess the possibility of a deal for the Guinea international.
Tottenham’s interest is well reported, but Leicester and Newcastle are relatively new to the party.
The report claims that the 22-year-old is indeed available but at a price of €30 million (£27m). Both clubs are said to be watching his progress in the final stretch of the Serie A season whilst also assessing his recent knee troubles.
Diawara would be a good recruit for both Leicester and Newcastle but any potential deal likely revolves around eventualities at both clubs transpiring a certain way.
Leicester are likely to need Champions League football to lure him to the King Power Stadium. Newcastle, on the other hand, would be dependent on this long-awaited Saudi takeover actually happening for any deal to appear likely.
In the event both occur, then Leicester and Newcastle could be onto a winner with this transfer pursuit.
