Report: Leeds, West Ham, Wolves among clubs eyeing Championship defender

The Athletic claim Leeds, West Ham and Wolves are three of a handful of Premier League clubs taking a look at QPR defender Rob Dickie. His form is crucial in keeping QPR in the hunt for a play-off place this season.

The 25-year-old defender has played every single minute of QPR’s 23 Championship matches this season. In that time, he has helped Mark Warburton’s side keep an impressive seven clean sheets – scoring four goals himself.

Little surprise, then, that Premier League clubs are becoming interested. It is believed that Leeds, West Ham and Wolves are all keen on luring Dickie into the Premier League – with Southampton and Burnley also keen.

It is unclear how much QPR would want for the ex-Oxford star, given he has a contract at QPR until the summer of 2024. The colossal defender has drawn comparisons with Manchester United’s Harry Maguire, as per the report.

Leeds, West Ham, Wolves – which club is best for Dickie?

Leeds and West Ham have injury issues in the middle of the defence. At Elland Road, captain Liam Cooper has joined Pascal Struijk on the sidelines – with Scotland star Cooper expected to be out until March.

West Ham are without Angelo Ogbonna for the season, and Kurt Zouma with a hamstring issue. They need cover. But for both sides, when all are fit, they have four top-quality centre-backs and arguably do not need additions.

Bringing in another defender would bloat the squad. But at Wolves, who not only lack options but sometimes play three at the back – surely Dickie would be best served coming to Molineux.

TransferMarkt say he shares an agent with Kemar Roofe.
