Leeds United are weighing up a surprise bid for Sheffield United centre-back John Egan, according to a report from the Daily Express.
Leeds fans will be hoping that it is a busy end to the window for the Whites. There is a feeling that Jesse Marsch’s men need another attacking player. And there have been question marks over the left-back role while Junior Firpo is sidelined.

What has not been discussed amongst the large majority of the fanbase however, is the prospect of signing another centre-back.
So some will be scratching their heads as the Daily Express is now reporting that Leeds want to sign Egan.

Leeds are considering making a bid for the Blades defender. And they believe that they could manage to get him in before the deadline.
Unsurprisingly, Sheffield United do not want to sell Egan.
Leeds weighing up Egan bid
Leeds fans would not have expected to see a link with Egan on the penultimate day of the window. He has been an ‘outstanding‘ servant for the Blades, and does have Premier League experience.
But Leeds now have four senior centre-backs in their ranks. Robin Koch and Diego Llorente have started every league game so far. Meanwhile, Marsch also has Pascal Struijk and Liam Cooper.
Struijk is also a left-back option, which does not help. But Leo Hjelde is also knocking on the door.
So it is incredibly hard to see Leeds spending any of their remaining budget on Egan. And similarly, it is difficult to imagine Sheffield United agreeing to let him go.
Interestingly, Leeds have wanted Egan in the past. The Yorkshire Evening Post reported in 2018 that Leeds had considered Egan in what was Marcelo Bielsa’s first summer at the helm.
Perhaps a surprise is on the cards.
But surely, there is no way that this is a move that will happen.
