Report: Leeds want to sign £13m World Cup midfielder who's already hinted at potential move

Leeds United have reportedly set their sights on Torino’s Sasa Lukic.

According to Tuttosport, via Tuttomercatoweb and Sport Witness, the Whites have ‘not hidden their interest’ in the Serbia international.

Leeds are currently 15th in the Premier League, just two points clear of the relegation zone.

Therefore, Whites boss Jesse Marsch could delve into the January transfer window in a bid to bolster the ranks.

Meanwhile, Lukic appears to have already hinted at a potential move away from Torino.

Indeed, Tuttosport claim that the 26-year-old’s latest comments on having ‘big ambitions’ for his future have ‘angered’ the Serie A side and their supporters.

Fans already had to forgive Lukic back in August and the club ‘does not want to be fooled’.

Now, Torino – via sporting director Davide Vagnati – will reportedly make it clear that Lukic won’t leave for less than €15m (£13m).

The report also claims that Leeds and AS Roma have ‘not hidden their interest’ in signing the player.

‘Off-the-ball movement and availability all over the pitch’

Lukic doesn’t seem like a bad shout for Leeds.

He is a player with experience at the highest level who seems eager to move and won’t break the bank.

Scouting website Breaking the Lines recently previewed the Serbia squad ahead of the World Cup, and Lukic gets a mention.

‘Gudelj can be found in the bottom right corner under ‘high retention anchormen’, which describes his role to a tee,’ they wrote.

‘Now, if you look just to the left, you can find another Serbian midfielder, namely Sasa Lukic.

‘With Gudelj out injured during the last international break, Lukic took his chance.

‘He was asked to replace the anchorman and did so, in his own way.

‘Lukic is great at finding pockets of space to help connect players in different phases of the attack

‘Obviously, there are several differences between them, but the main one is movement.

‘While Gudelj is fairly static and barely leaves his own half, one of Lukic’s main qualities is his off-the-ball movement and availability all over the pitch.’
