Marcelo Bielsa is happy to let Robbie Gotts and Jordan Stevens leave on loan this summer, but The Sun on Sunday (20/9; page 57) reports that the Leeds United boss wants cover for both youngsters before they are allowed to go.
Gotts and Stevens have been linked with leaving Elland Road this summer with Leeds now back in the Premier League.
And having previously held onto his brightest youngsters, Bielsa’s stance appears to have changed in more recent times.
Ryan Edmondson was given the green light to join Aberdeen until January earlier in the summer. And it seems that others may follow.
The Sun on Sunday (20/9; page 57) reports that both Gotts and Stevens could leave on loan. However, Bielsa will reportedly only be happy to sanction their temporary exits when they have cover.
TBR View: Leeds fans will be hoping for bigger push for new signings
Leeds fans will certainly be hoping that it may be the arrival of new signings that pave the way for the likes of Gotts and Stevens to leave on loan.
In Gotts’s case, perhaps it would not be a surprise if Adam Forshaw’s return from injury proves a factor. Once he is back, Leeds will have a good amount of depth in the middle of the park.
Stevens meanwhile, may be more likely to be relying on a new signing coming in. There are no attacking players Leeds are waiting on to come back from a lengthy injury.
So the desire to secure cover for Stevens is perhaps a sign that Leeds are not yet done in the transfer market this summer.
