Argentine outlet Doble Amarilla have claimed that Leeds United are interested in luring Argentina international and River Plate star Lucas Martinez Quarta to Elland Road – while the Whites are also keen on Matias Zaracho.
Quarta, 24, is a regular for River Plate having clocked up just four senior appearances shy of a century. Such form has even seen the centre-back earn two Argentina caps. AS claim he is worth £14.5m, but has an exit clause of £20m.
Little surprise given he has helped River keep eight clean sheets in 20 outings this season. With Ben White likely to cost a fortune this summer, Quarta – linked with Valencia – could be eyed as the Brighton defender’s replacement.
But Quarta is not the only player linked. Racing Club playmaker and eight-time Argentina Under-23 ace Zaracho is also a target, with Spanish outlet Marca claiming AC Milan are keen. He has a release clause worth £20m.
TBR’s view – Exciting times for Leeds, under Bielsa
His knowledge of Argentine football is better than most. Indeed, his knowledge of football is better than most. But both Quarta and Zaracho are both future Argentina regulars and have been linked with big European clubs.
The lure of Bielsa for Argentine players is very real. But could he convince them to join him at Leeds? Would Andrea Radrizzani splash almost £35million on two players? Promotion is absolutely key.
