Report: Leeds United will now only sell ‘brilliant’ player if he asks to leave after rejecting bid recently

Jack Harrison would have to ask to leave Leeds United for the club to even consider his departure this summer.

Leeds Live have offered an update on his situation amid interest from Newcastle United ahead of the new season.

They say that a bid from the Magpies was recently rejected and seen as derisory, and it would take big money to get them to sell.

On top of that, Harrison himself would have to ask to depart as well for Leeds to sanction a third major departure of the window.

Harrison would have to ask to leave Leeds

The report says that Harrison is happy to stay at Leeds and the club are happy to keep hold of him too.

Leeds are not anticipating any more big-name departures as they deal with the exits of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips to Barcelona and Manchester City.

It seems more likely that fringe players not getting much gametime could ask to leave, but Harrison is even more important this term after Raphinha left.

Harrison was described as ‘brilliant‘ by Micah Richards on Sky Sports last season and Jesse Marsch may need him to step up more this season.

Losing him would see Leeds need to dip into the market once more, perhaps at fairly short notice, to find someone to replace his workrate and goal threat.

That would not be ideal, but as it stands, a lot would have to happen for him to not be a Leeds player by the time the transfer window slams shut.
