Leeds United reportedly showed an interest in Ipswich Town youngster Armando Dobra before he signed a new contract at Portman Road, according to reports.

The Albanian under-21 call-up has signed a new deal with the Tractor Boys this week. The 19-year-old talent has signed a new deal keeping him with the League One club until 2023 with the option of an extra year extension to that deal.

The London-born star has had a breakthrough season at Ipswich. The teenage talent scored on his first-team debut as Ipswich lost 3-1 to Luton Town in an EFL Cup match.

His form with both Ipswich and the Albanian under-19s had clearly caught the eye of several potential suitors.

According to the East Anglia Daily Times, Leeds United were one such team. They, along with Southampton and Champions League challenging Atalanta of Italy were all showing a keen interest in the player.

However, it is suggested Leeds and co were rejected as Dobra saw an easier path toward first-team football at Portman Road.

Leeds will undoubtedly be disappointed not to have snapped up a genuine top young talent but for Dobra, staying at Ipswich certainly makes the most sense going forward.

But he is certainly a name that Leeds should be keeping on their shortlist going forward.
