According to the Irish Sun, Leeds United and Norwich City are both keen on signing Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers.
The 20-year-old shot-stopper started the last two games of the recent Premier League campaign, and impressed between the sticks for Eddie Howe’s side. However, the young Irishman is not first choice for the Cherries. He may have to leave the south coast club this summer in order to find first team football elsewhere.
Marcelo Bielsa would be wise to tempt Travers to Elland Road. Leeds United just missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season, and will be looking to rectify that this time around. However, they will need a reliable ‘keeper to do so.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell proved error-prone last season. His replacement, Kiko Casilla, arrived from Real Madrid bringing a big reputation and a great deal of experience with him. However, the Spaniard has so far struggled in the English second tier, and made a few costly mistakes in the recent play-off encounters with Derby County.
Bielsa may now be ready to return to the market for a new ‘keeper once more, and Travers showed flashes of real quality last season which could tempt the Argentine coach.
If Travers were to join the Whites this season and provide them with the solid platform they need to build a promotion push on, then he would quickly become a hero at the Yorkshire club. What’s more, he would also be getting the regular game time he dearly needs to continue his development.
