Leeds United are reportedly interested in the Greek goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas. That is according to reports in the player’s homeland who suggest the West Yorkshire side have the 10-cap international on their radar.

Sport-FM is reporting that Barkas would be open to the move as he is excited at the opportunity of working with Marcelo Bielsa.

Should Leeds win promotion to the Premier League, then a move for Barkas appears to be on the horizon.

Celtic and Rangers are also said to be interested in the player.

Earlier this week, it was reported by Sportime that his current club AEK Athens are ready to sell the player.

The Greek club needs to raise some funds and want to cash in around £7.2 million on the player.

Leeds United currently have Kiko Casilla as their number one. However, the Spaniard is currently suspended after being charged with racial abuse and there are some question marks over his future.

Illan Meslier is expected to join in the summer, once his loan spell from Lorient comes to an end.

Barkas, would, therefore, be a potentially exciting replacement should Leeds decide to move on from Casilla.

However, that £7.2 million fee might feel a little costly for a player who has no experience in the English game.
