Leeds United and Celtic were both reportedly in the race for Tottenham Hotspur newbie Alfie Devine, according to a report from the London Evening Standard.
The 15-year-old talent, who has been labelled ‘top-class’ by Jamie Carragher, has joined Spurs in a deal the Standard claims is worth a potential £500,000, with Wigan Today putting the figure nearer to £300,000.
It is a big move for Tottenham, as Devine is considered one of the top talents of his age in the country and will hopefully go on to become a first-team star.
Leeds and Celtic, however, are left empty-handed.

Leeds’ interest will come as no surprise. Since Wigan fell into administration, the Whites have been linked with another pair of talented players at the DW Stadium. Joe Gelhardt and Sean McGurk are said to be in Leeds United’s crosshairs this summer.
As for Celtic, they have previous when it comes to scooping up young talents from troubled English clubs.
Last summer, when Bolton Wanderers stared into oblivion, Celtic took advantage by snapping up young Irish talent Luca Connell from the Trotters.
But both clubs have now come up empty-handed and it will remain to be seen whether Devine ends up leaving both teams wondering what might have been in the years to come.
