Leeds United are reportedly set to succeed with their attempt to sign Arsenal centre-forward Eddie Nketiah.

According to the Independent, the Whites are set to win the race for the English striker and he’s set to join them on a season-long loan before Thursday’s deadline cut-off point.

It is understood that the 20-year-old will arrive at Elland Road as a replacement for Kemar Roofe, who completed a permanent move away to Anderlecht.

The report details that Bristol City were leading the race for Arsenal’s rising star in July, but he’s now set to move to Yorkshire.

Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta is also believed to have played a role in the swoop, as he gave a perusal pitch to Arsenal about Nketiah on Tuesday.

Patrick Bamford is the main senior option in attack as it stands in Marcelo Bielsa’s squad, but he’s now set to have immense competition from Nketiah.

TBR’s View:

Leeds appear to have won the race for Nketiah and he’s expected to join the Championship side on loan.

It’s a major statement from Leeds to convince Arsenal to loan out their highly-rated attacker, as he’s got the potential to be a hit in the top-flight and will now get the chance to showcase his talents in the second-tier.

Nketiah has impressed in the Gunners pre-season under Unai Emery and has also played 19 senior games for Arsenal in the past.

The striker is a speed machine that has been a prolific goalscorer at youth level and is a tidy finisher.

He’s going to inject some pace and trickery to the Leeds attack if his deal gets over the line, something that supporters should be extremely excited to see.
