Leeds Live have claimed that Leeds United are close to agreeing new deals for two of Marcelo Bielsa’s most crucial players this summer, in the form of defender Luke Ayling and goalscoring midfielder Matuesz Klich.
Leeds have already agreed contracts for heavily-linked Kalvin Phillips, captain Liam Cooper and versatile star Stuart Dallas. But it looks as though they are not stopping just yet, with Klich and Ayling expected to agree new deals.
Klich, 29, joined Leeds in the summer of 2017 from FC Twente for £1.5million (YEP). But the midfielder struggled in his first season and was loaned to FC Utrecht. Bielsa recognised his talent, and he starred during 2018-19 – having a hand in 19 goals.
His contract expires at the end of the season but a new deal is expected. Meanwhile, Ayling is now in his fourth season at Elland Road after joining from Bristol City for £750,000 (Mail) has played 116 times, and has two years left on his deal.

TBR’s view – Leeds have learnt from Roofe mistake
The sale of Kemar Roofe to Anderlecht was a mistake by the Leeds board. Despite being last season’s top scorer, Roofe was sold in the summer for a measly £7million because he had entered the last 12 months of his contract.
It seems the Leeds board have opted to solve that issue and give their stars new deals, before it is too late. Indeed, deals for Klich, Cooper, Dallas, Ayling and most importantly Phillips, is the core of Bielsa’s side and could prove crucial in the run in.
Deals for both Ayling and Klich, who were signed for a combined £2.25million, is excellent business for Leeds. It is believed an agreement will be made in the next few days, for both stars.
