The Daily Mail have claimed that Leeds United are ‘thought to be keen’ on Europa League winner and Sevilla attacker Lucas Ocampos ahead of the summer window – joining Liverpool in a potential move for the Argentina international.
Ocampos, 26, caught the eye during his first season at Sevilla having joined the club from Marseille in the summer of 2019. Clockign up 44 appearances during 2019-20, he had a hand in 22 goals – scoring 17 and creating five, winning the Europa League.
It is believed that Ocampos has a release clause worth £56million in his current contract, with Liverpool looking to land the five-time Argentina ace in a potential player-plus-cash deal involving Takumi Minamino. He has a contract at Sevilla until 2024.
Ocampos played 132 times for Marseille before joining Sevilla – having been initially signed by Marcelo Bielsa on loan in January 2015 at the French club. Now, it is claimed that Bielsa could be considering a move to sign him for a second time.

TBR’s view – Ocampos would be a sensational signing
At Leeds, he would easily start and would probably be up there with the club’s best players in Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha. He would give Leeds the attacking fire power required to get them into the top half, and even potentially into Europe.
At Liverpool, he would be joining a side that will be looking to re-form a title challenge next term. But would he start? Probably not – the likes of Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota remain first choice. Leeds is his best move.
