Report: Leeds teenager Kun Temenuzhkov could be about to leave Elland Road

The Yorkshire Evening Post have claimed that Leeds United teenager Kun Temenuzhkov could leave Elland Road before the end of the January transfer window, with the Bulgarian deemed ‘surplus to requirements’.

Temenuzhkov, 19, joined the club from Barcelona’s Under-18 side in the summer of 2017 and has since been a crucial part of Carlos Corberan’s Under-23 side – becoming a real favourite of the Spanish manager.

However, after making his Leeds senior debut under Marcelo Bielsa in January 2019 during the 2-1 FA Cup defeat to QPR, Temenuzhkov has struggled to oust Ryan Edmondson from the second team – and failed to make a second senior outing.

This season, Temenuzhkov has hardly been used by Corberan and with a week remaining in January, it is believed he could leave. Rumours have suggested that third-tier Spanish side Lleida Esportiu are interested in the Bulgaria Under-21 cap.

TBR’s view – Unfortunate for Temenuzhkov, but the right decision

Temenuzhkov will feel slightly hard done by for a number of reasons. Unfortunately, Edmondson is one of the best players in the Under-23 side and even the target man cannot break into Bielsa’s side – despite the need for a striker.

Bielsa has brought through a number of young players, including Jamie Shackleton, Jack Clarke, Leif Davis, Jordan Stevens and more – but no strikers. The Argentine clearly likes proven talent to lead the line, giving Temenuzhkov no chance.

A move away from Leeds, is his best option.
