TNT Brasil claim Leeds have tabled a £20million offer to sign Atletico Mineiro left-back Guilherme Arana. The Whites are said to be keen on the Brazil international, who sparkled for Mineiro during the 2021 season.

The Brazilian campaign is now over, and Arana was certainly one of the division’s best left-sided defenders. So much so, that he broke into the Brazil side under Tite – and played every minute of his side’s Olympic Games triumph.

Clocking up 48 appearances during the 2021 campaign for Mineiro, Arana had a hand in 12 goals. He helped his side with the league title, leading Flamengo by a whopping 13 points after 38 games.

Little surprise, then, that Arana’s form has attracted that of European clubs. He has ventured into Europe before, going to Sevilla in 2018. But he was back after two years, only playing 25 times. Now, he is a different animal.

TNT Brasil claim Leeds are keen on Arana and have tabled a fee worth £20million to get their man in the January window. Brazilian clubs would rather sell in January, as the winter window is their pre-season.

Leeds bid for Arana: What about Junior Firpo?

The hype surrounding Firpo when he joined the club for around £13million from Barcelona was enormous. But since then, he has failed to live up to the potential – a lack of rhythm, form and momentum stopping him.

He has not been to the standard that Leeds fans might have hoped. Injury has hampered that, but does he need replacing, or does he at least deserve the season to show what he is capable of? Arana is an improvement.
