Leeds United have worked wonders in the transfer market following their promotion to the Premier League, but it doesn’t look as though they’re done yet before the window shuts on Monday.

According to El Desmarque, Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites have made Spanish outfit Levante an offer for 27-year-old midfielder Jose Campana.

The bid made by Leeds is reported to be an initial 15m Euros (around £13.5m) which, with add-ons, could reach up to 18m Euros (around £16m).

Campana has impressed since moving to Levante in 2016, clocking up 11 goals and 26 assists in 160 appearances, which has led to a first call-up to the Spain national side.

A graduate of the famed Sevilla academy, Campana’s first move away from his boyhood club saw him join Crystal Palace in the summer of 2013, and he began brightly, albeit for a struggling side.

However, Ian Holloway’s departure and Tony Pulis’ arrival saw the Spaniard slip out of first-team contention and he joined Nurnberg on loan in January 2014 before being sold to Sampdoria that summer.

Although Campana’s stint in the Premier League was short, he wasn’t really given much of a chance, and since then, he has developed into a high-calibre player with plenty of games, goals and assists under his belt.

While the report claims that Leeds aren’t overly optimistic of being successful in this late pursuit, the last few days of the transfer window can always conjure up some surprises, so it’s worth watching this space.
