Leeds United striker Jay-Roy Grot is wanted by Ligue 1 side Dijon, according to a report from French outlet Foot Mercato.

It is difficult to see a future for Grot at Elland Road. The 22-year-old has spent the last two seasons away from the Whites out on loan.

And with Marcelo Bielsa’s side stepping up a level this coming season, it would come as no surprise to anyone if Grot seals another move away.

Foot Mercato has suggested that the Dutchman is wanted by Dijon, who kicked off the new domestic season with a 1-0 defeat at home to Angers this month.

Leeds will surely not stand in Grot’s way should a reasonable bid come in. Foot Mercato notes that his contract expires next summer, so they would surely prefer to offload him permanently.

TBR View: Best for all parties for Leeds to cut ties with Grot

Unfortunately, it has not worked out for Grot at Leeds. And his loan spells away from Elland Road have arguably done little to make fans wonder if Bielsa made a mistake in letting him leave twice.

It remains to be seen if Dijon are interested in a permanent move or whether they want Grot on loan.

But if Leeds can move him on permanently this summer, it would arguably be best for all parties.

The Whites would offload a player who does not appear to have a long-term future with the club ahead of the final year of his contract. Meanwhile, Grot can find a permanent home to start getting his career back on track.
