Report: Leeds star's attracted Liverpool and Real Madrid enquiries
Leeds United have fielded enquiries for Kalvin Phillips from the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Real Madrid in the last 12 months, according to a report from the Daily Star.
What’s the story?
The Whites appear set to face a battle to keep Phillips at Elland Road in the coming months.
It is claimed by the Daily Star that Manchester United have made the 25-year-old their top target for next summer. And it is being reported that they are looking at trying to sign the midfielder in a £60 million deal.
Leeds have now opened contract talks with Phillips. And they are apparently prepared to make their academy graduate the highest paid player in the squad.
There is also further reason for Leeds fans to be optimistic about their chances of stopping Phillips moving to Old Trafford.
According to the Daily Star, Leeds have had enquiries from Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid in the last year. Obviously, they have managed to keep him despite the interest.
Leeds stand a fantastic chance of keeping Phillips while they keep progressing amid Liverpool links
Leeds supporters seem to be fairly realistic about what the future could hold for Phillips.
There does appear to be a sense that they have a good chance of keeping him while they continue to move forward as a club.
Phillips has stepped up every single year since Marcelo Bielsa took charge. And some of his performances in what has, so far, been a tough season for Leeds, have been outstanding.
The Whites need to keep progressing to ensure that Phillips stays as long as possible.
The chances of a move to Manchester United look slim. But clearly, they are not the only Champions League side who have noted how good he has been.
