Report: Leeds star Gjanni Alioski agrees Galatasaray deal
Leeds United star Gjanni Alioski has agreed terms with Galatasaray, according to Turkish outlet Fotomac, with the report sharing the reason why no announcement has yet been made.
Alioski’s future has been up in the air for some time. His contract at Elland Road is set to expire at the end of the campaign.
Fotomac notes that Leeds had offered the North Macedonia international a new deal. However, he apparently deemed that offer to be too low.
And the report is claiming that he has now agreed a move to Gala. However, he has asked the club to not announce anything just yet.
Fotomac reports that that is down to Alioski anticipating a negative reaction from the Leeds supporters.
Of course, it is no surprise that Alioski – who earns £15,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – is apparently wary of how the Whites fans will feel about him joining Galatasaray.
There are certainly going to be a section of the fanbase who will forever feel betrayed should the 29-year-old join that particular club given the history there.
When the initial links emerged earlier this year, there were some however, who were a little more understanding of Alioski’s position.
For many, it is not the same as Harry Kewell joining Gala. Unlike Alioski, Kewell was part of the Leeds side that contested that fateful UEFA Cup semi-final in 2000.
Nevertheless, there is no question that it would be a hugely controversial move from Alioski.
Judging by the latest reports, he is well aware that many will be hugely disappointed.
