Report: Leeds staff left impressed by what Marc Roca did as he was leaving Elland Road for the first time
Leeds United staff have already been impressed by Marc Roca after his first visit to Elland Road since signing for the club.
The Athletic report that it is customary for Leeds to hand their new signings two bottles of champagne once their arrival is confirmed.
One is for the player themselves and the other one is for their partner, but Roca has already given his away.
He gave one to the club’s secretary and the other to another member of club staff, to thank them both for the work they did on his move.
Leeds staff impressed by Roca already
Roca has also rejected Leeds’ offer to return for pre-season at the same time as the Whites’ international players.
He had the chance to join pre-season at the same time as the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Diego Llorente, who are among the players handed more time off after post-season Nations League duty.
But he wants to be there from the very start and get to work as soon as possible on becoming as fit and sharp as possible to make a success of his Leeds career.
These are little touches which endear Roca to his new club in the short term, but obviously it is all about how he performs on the pitch.
Getting as much pre-season as possible is probably a good idea, because he has not played much football of late for Bayern.
So if he can get that fitness behind him, it should allow him to make a flying start to his Leeds career, and maybe earn himself some more champagne in the form of man of the match awards.
