Leeds United have followed up their interest in Rob Holding by also asking about the defender’s Arsenal teammate Calum Chambers, according to a report from TEAMtalk.

Leeds need to bolster their defensive ranks this summer. They have, so far, failed in their attempts to bring Ben White back to Elland Road after his loan spell last term.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported this week that the club are planning to make a move for Freiburg’s Robin Koch in the near future. But it appears that they are keeping their options open.

According to TEAMtalk, Marcelo Bielsa’s side have shown interest in Holding. But they have now made contact with Arsenal over a potential move for Chambers.

TEAMtalk notes that Mikel Arteta wants to offload the 25-year-old this summer, and is willing to do business for £12 million.

The report also suggests that Leeds face competition from Fulham for Chambers – who, TEAMtalk notes, was signed by Victor Orta during his time at Middlesbrough.

TBR View: Chambers move would be gamble, but £12m bid could pay off

Chambers has had a tough time at Arsenal. He has made just over 100 appearances in the five seasons he has spent with the Gunners, having struggled with injury.

He did however, enjoy a very good loan spell at Fulham a couple of years ago. It was at Craven Cottage that he further displayed his versatility as he impressed in holding midfield.

That versatility makes it easier to understand why he may come onto Bielsa’s radar during this window. And for £12 million, a move may have the potential to be a fantastic piece of business.

But you could certainly empathise if the Leeds supporters were wary of the void left behind by White being filled by the Arsenal man this summer.
