Leeds United remain confident that Ian Poveda will join the club from Manchester City this month, despite the winger attracting interest from elsewhere in Europe, according to Leeds Live.
Leeds fans are still waiting for the club to announce that they have made a signing this month. Marcelo Bielsa has lost two players after their loan spells at Elland Road were cut short.
It appeared that Leeds were hoping that one of those players, Jack Clarke, would be replaced by Poveda. The Daily Mail was one of the outlets to report earlier this month that the Whites were keen on the 19-year-old.
However, the Mail noted that Torino and Parma also want the wide-man. Meanwhile, Leeds Live suggested that Hoffenheim were keen to take him to the Bundesliga.
But Leeds Live have seemingly provided the Elland Road faithful with reason for optimism. It has been reported that the Championship promotion-chasers remain confident that they will sign Poveda.
Leeds Live suggests that he is expected to be shown round Thorp Arch on Thursday and hold further talks.
TBR View – Leeds need new signing boost
It has perhaps not been the best start to the window for Bielsa. As previously mentioned, Leeds have lost two loanees. And their efforts to bring in a new signing have so far reaped no rewards.
The Daily Mail reported this week that Leeds’s top striker target Che Adams had decided to stay at Southampton.
And with Leeds’s form on the pitch taking something of a dip, it seems fair to say that the Whites need the boast of announcing a new signing.
Poveda looks to be an intriguing target. He has been attached to some fantastic clubs, but he is unproven in senior football.
Nevertheless, it would be a statement of intent from Leeds to bring the youngster in. And his arrival could provide the club with a big lift as they look to keep the chasing pack at arm’s length.
