Leeds United are planning to make a new bid for Ben White, with the Daily Star reporting that the Whites are also interested in Manchester City’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis, and are in talks with Lucas Martinez Quarta.

Leeds have got going in the transfer window this week after a reasonably quiet start. Jack Harrison’s return was confirmed on Monday and swiftly followed by announcements that both Joe Gelhardt and Charlie Allen have moved to Elland Road.

One player they have failed to sign however, is White – but not for the lack of trying. According to Sky Sports last week, Leeds had had two bids for the centre-back rejected, with the larger of the two offers worth £22 million.

That may leave some supporters feeling pessimistic. But the Daily Star reports that Marcelo Bielsa’s side are preparing a fresh offer for the 22-year-old.

However, it appears that they have other targets in mind.

The Daily Star claims that they are in talks with Martinez Quarta and are hopeful that they may not need to trigger his £18 million release clause. In fact, it is suggested that an initial £10 million plus add-ons may get a deal done.

Meanwhile, the Star also reports that they are interested in Harwood-Bellis.

Of course, a move for the 18-year-old would have to be permanent. Leeds have already signed Harrison from the Cityzens on loan.

But the teenager could join Gelhardt and Allen in being an incredibly exciting addition. He has played for City in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Champions League.

Leeds will surely be hoping that White fills the centre-back void this coming season. But it is unquestionably a wise decision to also look elsewhere with the new campaign looming on the horizon.
