Leeds United have been offered the chance to sign Barcelona starlet Riqui Puig, according to an exclusive report from 90Min.com.

The Spanish youngster has been in and around the first-team this season but Ronald Koeman has only given Puig a handful of appearances and Barca could now look to get him a loan move.

Puig, 21, is thought to be one of the most highly valued young players at the Nou Camp. He has turned heads, including impressing Barca superstar Lionel Messi.

And Leeds, who could move for more new players during January, are among the clubs being considered by Barcelona to send Puig out to get that first-team experience he needs.

Predominantly a central midfielder, Puig can operate as a number eight or a number six if needed and is widely expected to go on and have a fine career at the Catalan giants.

However, it’s not nailed on for Leeds to do the deal. Monaco and RB Leipzig have both apparently been sounded out too, with Puig’s agent said to have made contact with both those clubs and Leeds ahead of a potential move.

Puig is clearly a player with massive potential but there is a question on whether he would get any minutes at Elland Road given Marcelo Bielsa’s loyalty to his current squad.

Arriving in January would mean he’d need time to bed in and with the likes of Phillips and Klich in midfield, Puig would have to bide his time.

However, he is a huge talent and it’s good that Leeds are being considered. It shows the growth they’ve had under Bielsa and shows they are a club big outfits around Europe are willing to put their trust in.
