Report: Leeds now want to sign 'incredible' 27-year-old, after he changes agent to get move

Leeds United are now in the race to sign midfielder Seko Fofana amid competition from a host of clubs in England and France.

French outlet Media Foot report that the 27-year-old is now a target for Jesse Marsch’s side, but it is not clear if that is for the current transfer window or the summer.

The report also names Ligue 1 teams Nice and Monaco as potential competition in the chase to sign the Lens midfielder who is also their club captain.

Other teams have also been linked with Fofana, and it was reported that Arsenal made a summer deadline day attempt to sign him.

Liverpool have also been linked with the ‘incredible‘ midfielder as they embark on a period where they need to freshen up that area of the pitch.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the midfielder recently changed agents, with one eye on a potential move in the not too distant future.

He said two months ago: “There’s been some speculation in recent days linking Seko Fofana as a target for Arsenal and Liverpool. I don’t know yet where he’ll end up, but I can give my current understanding of his situation.

“Seko Fofana has new agent now and he’s obviously working to find solutions for 2023. At the moment it is still early, nothing advanced; but he can be an opportunity not just for Premier League clubs, also in other leagues. His price tag could be around €40m (£35.3 million).”

The report suggests there is a stronger chance that Fofana moves in the summer than mid-season, especially with Lens going so well this term.

They sit second in Ligue 1, having beaten leaders Paris Saint-Germain to win 3-1 in their most recent league match.

Fofana himself has had a hand in eight goals during 16 games this term, which is not a bad total at all from his midfield position.

If Lens and Fofana keep performing, that price tag may only keep going up, especially with the competition in the transfer tussle.
