Leeds United are among the clubs who are interested in signing central midfielder Pape Gueye from Marseille.
French outlet Jeunes Footeux claim that Southampton are also keen on signing the 23-year-old Senegalese international.
They report that Jesse Marsch is already looking at ways to improve his engine room ahead of the January transfer window.
Marseille have of course just been eliminated from the Champions League and will not play in Europe after Christmas because Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s late, late winner for Tottenham consigned them to finish bottom of the group.

Leeds want Gueye
The report says that Gueye is now fourth choice in the heart of midfield for the Ligue 1 club and has made just three starts in all competitions this season.
Marseille president Pablo Longoria is looking to balance the books in the forthcoming transfer window and would not be against the idea of selling Gueye for the right price.
Southampton would apparently prefer a loan with an option to buy but Marseille and Longoria want a straight permanent transfer.
Leeds of course tried to sign another player from Marseille during the summer transfer window in the shape of Bamba Dieng.
That one turned into a farce, with the deal falling through at the very last minute on a chaotic final day of the market as Leeds chased a striker.
The Whites will hope that any negotiation for Gueye goes more smoothly than that, and given his position in the pecking order, a deal should be there to be done.
