Report: Leeds may listen to loan offers for 19-year-old prospect

Leeds United may reportedly allow attacking prospect Sam Greenwood to leave on a temporary basis next season.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Whites could be prepared to listen to loan offers this summer for him.

It is explained Championship clubs wanted to take him away from Elland Road on loan during the 2020/21 campaign, but that was blocked by first-team manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Greenwood, 19, made his one first-team appearance for Leeds back in January in the FA Cup.

Apart from that, he’s spent the first year of his time in Yorkshire shining at youth level. He joined in a deal last summer from Arsenal that could end up costing £3million (Evening Standard).

Sam Greenwood is one of the rising Leeds stars

Greenwood, who has been one of the standouts in the Under-23s side, should be begging for a loan deal. The Sunderland-born teenager looks ready to rest himself at senior level.

He’s a versatile attacker that has switched between the number nine and number 10 position this campaign. However, he looks effective in both.

The forward finished the season with five goals in his final four goals in the Premier League 2, and managed 12 in 18 appearances in that competition.

Bielsa has a knack of bringing through young stars. Greenwood, along with teammate Joe Geldhardt, are two individuals in particular to watch out for in the next year.

A loan deal doesn’t work for everyone, but Greenwood seems like the kind of hungry young player ready for the fight. Surely, teams will be queuing up in the Championship if he does become available.
