Report: Leeds make their move for £10m player who's 'not a little mouse that hides away'
Leeds United have already made two signings ahead of next season.
The Whites have bolstered their ranks by landing Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen from Red Bull Salzburg.
However, it doesn’t look as though Leeds’ summer business is anywhere near over just yet.
Jesse Marsch has apparently set his sights on a new midfielder.
According to The Athletic, Leeds are now in pursuit of Bayern Munich ace Marc Roca.
The outlet claims the 25-year-old defensive midfielder is available for around £10million.
Leeds apparently identified Roca as a target in January and ‘are pushing for an agreement’.
The Spaniard joined Bayern from Espanyol in 2020 after the Catalan club suffered relegation from La Liga.
However, he has struggled for game time in Bavaria, making six league appearances in 2020-21 and nine last season.
Roca played regularly at Espanyol, making more than 100 appearances in La Liga.
He was also part of the Spain squad that won the European Under-21 Championship in 2019.
“Gives his all in training”
Despite getting little game time at Bayern, Julian Nagelsmann has spoken very highly of Roca.
The Bundesliga website quotes the Bavarians’ head coach as saying: “He’s a guy who always gives his all in training, who also shows you sometimes that he’s got that fire in his belly.
“He’s a strong character and not a little mouse that hides away. He also speaks his mind and makes it known that he has the ambition to play even more.”
Roca has earned comparisons with Xabi Alonso and Sergio Busquets.
Leeds could certainly do with more steel in midfield, and Roca seems to tick a lot of boxes for the Elland Road outfit.
