TuttoMercatoWeb have claimed that Leeds United have tabled a bid for Boca Juniors midfielder Nahitan Nandez, but they may still lose out to Serie A side AS Roma.
Leeds have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old for the past few weeks, with the player’s future at Boca unclear given that he only has a contract with the Argentine giants until the summer of 2020.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were first linked with the 20-time Uruguay international back in March. The report claims Roma are also keen, and may have the upper hand by offering a swap deal.
Roma midfielder Diego Perotti may be offered as part of a swap deal for Nandez. Indeed, that may give the Italians the lead in the chase for Nandez, given Perotti has played for Boca before.

CalcioMercato claimed last week that Nandez is available for £17million, and is also said to be interesting Premier League side Newcastle. He starred at last summer’s World Cup, and in the most recent Copa Libertadores final.
TBR’s view
Pulling off a deal to sign Nandez would be an almighty coup for Leeds. Indeed, Roma finished in the Champions League semi-finals last season, while Newcastle boast Rafa Benitez as manager.
The Whites are not even a certainty for promotion yet, so landing Nandez’s signature would be impressive. The only way Leeds are going to do so, though, is through Marcelo Bielsa.
A legend in his home country and South America, the former Argentina boss will be hoping Nandez is a fan of his work. That way, the midfielder may opt to work at Elland Road.
