Leeds United have made an enquiry for Slavia Prague midfielder Nicolae Stanciu, with the Daily Mail reporting that Marcelo Bielsa’s side want to make four or five signings this summer.

The Whites are yet to bring in a new face during this window. But they appear to have been linked with a large group of names.

And it appears that they may be working towards potential announcements. The Daily Mail has claimed that they have made contact with the Czech club regarding a potential move for the Romania international.

The Mail claims that the 27-year-old will be allowed to leave for £7 million. But it remains to be seen whether Leeds are willing to meet that asking price.

TBR View: Stanciu form must tempt Leeds into bid

The Romania international enjoyed an excellent season for his club. He scored four league goals and contributed 12 assists in all competitions.

He also featured in all six of Slavia Prague’s Champions League group games.

That form suggests that a £7 million move could be a very good piece of business.

Some may have their concerns about whether the attacking midfielder can transfer that form to the Premier League. But perhaps they can take some confidence from his former teammate’s start to life in England.

Tomas Soucek was an outstanding loan signing for West Ham during the second-half of last season. His form did enough to convince David Moyes’s men to make his move from Slavia permanent.

And Leeds may now be weighing up whether Stanciu would be able to follow in Soucek’s footsteps should he also move to England.
