Leeds United have reportedly expressed an interest in Chelsea defender Baba Rahman, according to Ghanasoccernet.

The outlet claims that the Whites have touched base with Rahman’s representatives, as well as the Blues, as they look to get a deal over the line before the transfer window shuts.

However, it is unspecified whether Leeds would want to sign the 26-year-old full-back on a loan deal or permanent basis.

Rahman joined Chelsea in 2015 from FC Augsburg but has only made 23 competitive appearances for the Londoners and has been out on loan four times while on their books.

The left-back has two more years left on his contract with Chelsea but is not in Frank Lampard’s plans and could be allowed to depart Stamford Bridge.

With Barry Douglas reportedly being eyed by Championship duo Watford and Blackburn, there could soon be a vacancy for a left-back at Elland Road.

While deals between Premier League and EFL sides can carry on for a couple more weeks, deals between Premier League sides have to be done today, so there could yet be some more developments on the Rahman front.

In Rahman’s 2014–15 season with Augsburg, he made 108 tackles, more than any other player in the Bundesliga that season; he won 90 of those, and also had 83 interceptions and won 80 contested aerial balls, so the talent is there.

However, he has endured bad luck in recent years due to injuries, and as things stand he has fallen way down the pecking order at Chelsea, but if anyone could get him firing on all cylinders again, it’s Marcelo Bielsa.
