Leeds United have made Celtic star Odsonne Edouard their top striker target for this summer, according to a report from the Sunday Mirror (9/8; page 66).
The Whites are yet to bring in a new face during this window. But that will surely change in the near future with Marcelo Bielsa’s side gearing up for life in the Premier League.
The Sunday Mirror (9/8; page 66) reports that Leeds are interested in landing Edouard. And it has been claimed that he is now their number one target as they look to bolster their attacking ranks.
The report also claims that Celtic are set to demand £20 million for Edouard.
TBR View: Leeds surely unlikely to land Edouard for just £20 million
Signing Edouard for £20 million has the potential to be an absolute steal. He bagged 28 goals in all competitions last season. And he has already opened his account for this campaign with an opening day hat-trick.
The Sun suggested this past week that Celtic value Edouard at £40 million. So it is difficult to imagine Leeds being able to bring him to Elland Road for half that price.
That should not necessarily deter Leeds. Edouard has an incredibly bright future ahead of him. It is easy to forget that he is just 22.
But perhaps Bielsa should not be surprised if Celtic have no intention of letting him leave for just £20 million.
