Report: Leeds have made £7m bid for 'laser-guided' left-footer who's 'every centre-forward's dream'

Leeds United have made a bid for PSV Eindhoven’s Philipp Max, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Whites are reportedly looking to bolster their ranks at left-back ahead of the start of the season.

Leeds will be without Junior Firpo for the start of the new Premier League campaign due to injury.

Jesse Marsch has been deploying Jack Harrison at left-back in pre-season as they’re light in that position.

In addition, the Whites have just sold Leif Davis to Ipswich Town.

Now, according to Tuttomercatoweb, Max in is Leeds’ sights.

The Italian outlet claims the Elland Road outfit has made a €8m (around £7m) offer to test the waters.

Max has been at PSV since 2020 and has been a regular starter for the club.

The Germany international has made 91 appearances over the last two seasons.

“One of the most dynamic and effective left-sided defenders”

Prior to joining PSV, Max spent five years at Augsburg, where he made 156 competitive appearances.

In 2017-18, the 28-year-old finished second in the Bundesliga assist ranks, behind only Thomas Muller.

Max had set up 13 goals for his teammates, as well as weighing in with two of his own.

Two years ago, the Bundesliga website compared him to Aleksandr Kolarov.

“Max is a solid defender,” they wrote.

“But much in the same way as Roma and Serbia counterpart, Aleksandar Kolarov, it’s going forward where he really shines.

“An ever-willing runner and the proud owner of a laser-guided left boot, the striker-turned-left-back is every centre-forward’s dream.

“He takes set-pieces and isn’t frightened to have a pop from range, making him one of the most dynamic and effective left-sided defenders in the Bundesliga.”
