The Daily Mail have claimed that Leeds United are now looking at two Manchester City defenders after being linked with Luke Mbete (above) earlier this month – with Josh Wilson-Esbrand now added to that list.
Mbete, 17, was linked with Leeds initially by The Athletic – but the Whites face competition from Italian champions Juventus. Leeds have strong connections with Manchester City, with Jack Harrison on loan from the club.
Pep Guardiola and Marcelo Bielsa are close, while Ian Poveda also swapped City for Leeds last season. Now, Mbete might do the same – and so could another young City defender in Wilson-Esbrand (below).
The left-back, who joined City from West Ham, has broken into City’s Under-23 side and played four times for the second string and has even been called up by England’s Under-18 side.

TBR’s view – Orta approach working wonders for Leeds
Pascal Struijk is just the latest of a number of young guns poached from other clubs to have broken into the starting line-up and impressed. Illan Meslier, Leif Davis, Poveda and plenty more have done so.
Sam Greenwood, Cody Drameh and Joe Gelhardt are also promising to do the same at Leeds – with a clash against Crawley in the FA Cup promising as much. Mbete and Wilson-Esbrand have the potential to add to that list.
