Report: Leeds join Everton and Newcastle in race for £115k-a-week man, want loan
CalcioMercato claim that Leeds United have joined Everton and Newcastle United in the race to sign Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey – but only want the Welshman on an initial loan spell.
Ramsey, 30, has struggled at Juventus since joining the club in 2019 from Arsenal. The 71-time Wales ace has only played five times this season, last making a sub appearance against Zenit St. Petersburg.
The ex-Arsenal man has a contract at The Old Lady until the summer of 2023. But the report suggests that Ramsey could actually be released by Juventus 18 months before that contract comes to an end.
The Italian report states that Arsenal are not interested, but Leeds are intent on taking him on loan – with Juve willing to ‘listen to offers’. He has is earning £115k-a-week wages at Juventus.
The report states that Leeds could face competition from Everton and Newcastle. Everton are willing to pay £12.75million as a bundle to sign Ramsey, while Newcastle can obviously afford him.
Leeds eye Ramsey: Whites, Everton or Newcastle for Juventus star?
All three need a no.10. Everton have lost Gylfi Sigurdsson and James Rodriguez this season, the latter moving to the Middle East. A bit of creation in midfield is lacking in Rafa Benitez’s side.
Newcastle have Miguel Almiron and Joe Willock, but Ramsey is the big-name signing a takeover sometimes needs. Leeds desperately need depth in the middle of the park, and a bit of creation too.
If Leeds could get him on loan, he might just save their season – with relegation a real possibility for the Whites. He would hardly join Newcastle permanently, or Everton who are struggling. Leeds on loan is ideal.
