Argentine outlet Ole have claimed that Leeds United are interested in signing five Argentine players this summer, including Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth and a player dubbed the ‘new Messi’.

Leeds have gained promotion to the Premier League and already, the transfer rumours are beginning to fly in. Owner Andrea Radrizzani even hinted at a potential move to sign free agent Edinson Cavani this summer.

Now, the Whites want five Argentine players. Foyth has been linked with Leeds repeatedly, while Racing attacker Matias Zaracho and River’s Argentina cap Lucas Quarta were reported as targets previously by Doble Amarilla.

The trio have been named as three names on a five-man Argentine shortlist, along with ‘the new Messi’ (MEN) Thiago Almada from Velez Sarsfield and Stuttgart attacker Nicolas Gonzalez – who also has three Argentina caps.

TBR’s view – Rumours are hotting up

But which areas do Leeds need to improve on – and which of those five players would improve Leeds? Foyth has Premier League experience but has struggled since moving to England, he could be improved under Marcelo Bielsa.

Quarta has been linked with some of Europe’s biggest teams and given Leeds need a defender and he has four Argentina caps, he would be a stunning signing. Almada is considered the next Messi, so he could improve Leeds, too.

Gonzalez has netted 15 goals in 27 second-tier German league games. Whether he could make the step up, remains to be seen while Zaracho has only played for Racing and a move to England could be tricky.

But Foyth, Quarta and Almada would be unbelievable additions.
