Leeds United are holding talks this week regarding potential striker targets for the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

Leeds could be on the cusp of securing another year in the Premier League. A positive result against Watford this weekend would take Jesse Marsch’s side to the brink of safety.

This summer is looking set to be a pivotal one at Elland Road. The Daily Mail notes that there is interest in Illan Meslier, Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.

And the fans will be hoping that the Whites strengthen in a number of areas to try and ensure that this season is not repeated again next year. And one area of the squad that almost definitely needs strengthening is up front.

Patrick Bamford has endured a nightmare season with injury. Dan James has predominantly filled in for the Englishman. But it is not his natural position.

Rodrigo and Joe Gelhardt have stepped up of late. However, there will be a huge amount of discontent if Leeds do not sign a striker.

But it does appear that they are hoping to improve their ranks in that area. The Daily Mail reports that Leeds are holding talks during the coming days over striker targets.

Striker signing looks to be a must for Leeds after Bamford struggles

When everyone is fit, Leeds have a good group of attacking players. Bamford was outstanding during their first year back in the Premier League. Rodrigo meanwhile, has been superb since Marsch was appointed.

Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood are knocking on the door. And they have bright futures ahead.

But Leeds have not had all four fit for the majority of the campaign. And it would be asking a lot of Bamford to expect him to replicate his form from last season when he is back fit.

So Leeds simply must sign a frontline striker when the window opens. But the fans may be a little concerned about who Victor Orta ultimately has up his sleeve.
