Report: Leeds in strong position to make signing, Orta feels he's right for Bielsa

Leeds United are reportedly closing in on a new left-back, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The Whites have been linked with several left-backs ahead of the summer transfer window.

Nicolas Tagliafico, Romain Perraud, Javi Galan and Alex Grimaldo are just some of the names on the rumour mill.

However, the Yorkshire Evening Post says Tagliafico hasn’t spoken to Leeds.

And Perraud, Galan and Grimaldo aren’t the player in question.

Leeds director Victor Orta has apparently spoken to the mystery left-back.

He reportedly has the right attitude to play for the Whites boss, claims the Yorkshire Evening Post.

On the strength of the conversation, he has apparently moved into a strong position with regards to a possible Leeds move.

Ezgjan Alioski’s Leeds future?

Orta reportedly spoke to the North Macedonia international last week over his future.

Alioski, whose contract runs out at the end of June, has yet to pen a new deal at Elland Road.

Orta would like to keep the 29-year-old, who had not penned an agreement with any other club prior to their meeting.

But regardless of whether or not Alioski remains, Leeds will still seek to buy a left-back, added the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Alioski has made 38 appearances this season, including 36 in the Premier League.

His tally at Leeds reads 171 appearances, 22 goals and 19 assists.

Leeds could certainly do with bolstering their ranks at left-back and the Yorkshire Evening Post’s report is a welcome update.

Bielsa is a manager with high standards, so this player will have a lot going for him.

He will probably be really energetic, versatile and have plenty of stamina.

While Alioski is a good player, he’ll have the odd lapse in concentration defensively.

Likewise, his final ball isn’t always the best, so it’s good to hear a new left-back might be coming in.
