Leeds United are hopeful that they will be able to finalise a move to sign Jean-Kevin Augustin on loan on Monday, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

Augustin has emerged as a target for the Whites in recent days with Marcelo Bielsa still looking to add another striker to his ranks.

Leeds lost Eddie Nketiah at the start of the month. And the Yorkshire Evening Post reports that they have already had three bids for Southampton’s Che Adams rejected in this window.

But it appears that the Championship promotion-chasers are now closing in on making a new signing.

The Daily Mail reports that Augustin’s loan at Monaco has been cut short, and Leeds are now hopeful that they can agree a move with RB Leipzig on Monday.

The Mail adds that a medical could take place early on in the week.

Augustin has not had the best season. But it would arguably be a major coup for the Whites should they manage to get a deal across the line.

The 22-year-old has previously shone in the Bundesliga with Leipzig.

He is still developing his game, and Leeds fans will be hoping that Marcelo Bielsa is the perfect coach to help him realise his potential.

With the Whites having little problem creating chances, you could certainly understand why the majority of the Elland Road faithful may wonder if Augustin could be a game-changing signing.
